Spotlight Wedding: Marikate & Collin

Marikate & Collin really made this day their own. While rustic isn’t necessarily her style, she loved being able to put her elegant spin on it all, which made for a really gorgeous evening. It all felt so high class and everything you would expect a sparkling Winter Wedding to be. What’s unique about Marikate & Collin is that they followed their hearts & got married in her church, but still had a wonderful reception with us.

We asked Marikate a few questions about her big day and here is what she had to say.

1. What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
“I would say one of our favorite moments of our wedding day would have to be making our entrance into the reception and seeing everyone we love in one big room and all of the planning and beautiful details come to fruition. It took my breath away. “

2. What was one part of your wedding that you were really happy you decided to do? (ex. videography, decor, type of ceremony, etc,)
“I’m really happy we decided to do a lot of things! I loved we had our rehearsal dinner in the Saloon; it was really private and intimate. I love we decided to partake in our cocktail hour and visit with our family and friends and I absolutely loved the hanging flowers from the chandelier and garland on the banquet tables. I felt it really gave our reception a personalized touch and added a little something extra.”

3. If you could give one piece of advice to brides planning their weddings currently, what would it be?

“My one piece of advice would be: No matter what happens, choose to go with the flow of things, stay positive, and focus on the memories you’re making and time you’re spending with your spouse and family and friends. Your day will FLY by, so focus on the fun and you can’t go wrong!”

4. Why did you choose Silver Sycamore as your venue?
“We chose Silver Sycamore because it was this private, hidden, grounds that was so cute and cozy and nothing like we had seen before. The possibilities are endless and everything can be done at one location. From the rehearsal dinner to breakfast with our families the following morning, we really utilized the entire Silver Sycamore experience. Honestly, Jackie herself is what sealed the deal. We knew she had everything under control and felt she really knew what she was doing. I’m a control freak and she really put my mind at ease and really felt I could trust her. I remember taking our first tour and just instantly envisioning everything I wanted coming together in this space. I am usually not a “rustic/country” type of person, but the Saloon worked perfectly for our rehearsal dinner and cocktail hour and our guests loved the uniqueness. All the natural wood is so beautiful in itself I feel you don’t need much decor. For the reception, the banquet hall was a blank canvas I felt I really got to make my own and am still in love with how everything turned out. And although we had around 160 guests, it still felt quaint and romantic and dreamy. I can’t thank Jackie and Angela enough for being there throughout the entire process and helping make everything perfect and as we wanted. “
